Unit 1,4 & 5
Combined Course

Unit 1: An understanding of the basic principles of fire detection and alarm design and the relevant Standard, BS 5839-1. Provides the foundation from which to build professional knowledge and competence.

Unit 4: Essential technical knowledge to to install, certificate and test hard wired fire detection and alarm systems. Follows on and builds knowledge from Unit 1.

Unit 5: In one day equips the person to carry out the maintenance and servicing of fire alarm systems to BS 5839-1.

All three units - Fire Detection Design, Fire Alarm Maintenance, and Installation and Testing - can be taken individually, or as a three-day intensive course.

Service and maintenance of portable fire extinguishers

Learn the theory of fire and of extinguishing, before moving on to portable extinguishers, selecting and positioning the right extinguisher for the area, and carrying out servicing.

This intensive course is run over three days with the BAFE exam taking place on the fourth day. Provides both theoretical knowledge and practical experience.

Portable fire extinguishers - Refresher course

BS 5306 advises that technicians involved in the servicing and maintenance of portable extinguishers undergo regular refresher training to ensure that their knowledge and skills remain current.

The FIA recommends that refresher training is carried out at a minimum of every three years.

This intensive course is run over one day and will provide delegates with an update on changes in legislation or standards, knowledge and understanding of developments in extinguisher technology and changes in working practices.
